I have an asus computer and have recently downloaded windows 10. I am getting the message that my trial of mcafee has now expired and I need to buy a new subscription. I have an unused mcafee disc dated 2011 can I download this instead of buying it again.

For info,
uninstall Mcafee via:-
- Right-Click (as opposed to the usual Left-click!) on 'Windows Start' button
- Select 'Control Panel'
- Select 'Uninstall a program'
- Locate and select Mcafee from the list of Applications displayed and select Uninstall. (you may need to reboot your system when complete)
Next, to check / ensure Windows Defender is running:-
- Left-click on 'Windows start' button and select 'Settings'
- Select the menu item 'Update & security'
- Select 'Windows Defender'
- Under the item 'Real-time protection' you should see a small Blue button with a White dot and it will either have the status showing as 'On' of 'Off'. If you see showing as 'On' then Windows Defender is already activated. If it is showing as 'Off' then click the blue button and it should change the status to on.
Windows Defender will automatically update itself on a regular basis.
