Though Germany is unified, the people of the former East Germany have had a punishing history like nowhere else, they have had to suffer national socialism then communism and the humiliation of its aftermath that was having to accept the failure of their state - loss of property, poor crowded housing, poor food and cardboard cars, having to accept "charity" generously given by their former countrymen in the affluent west.
Overall German statistics may show that unemployment is low, but a lot of it is in the East and accommodation isn't plentiful. Now they are having large numbers of immigrants foisted on them in the shape of people from all parts of the African continent, very few of whom speak German, mostly Muslim and many illiterate.
Torching of custom built asylum homes is not justifiable in any way, but I think I Know why some people feel like that.
