Hi there my 3 year old cat has suddenly started drinking loads of water. I always leave the tap running for her because she will not drink out of a bowl. Today I was in the bath for 1/2 hour and she was sitting in the sink for the whole time drinking water. I have never seen her drink that much before but of course she might when I am out. I hope she is ok she has loads of energy and eating plenty so no real obvious concerns.
If she pees much more than usual it would be a better indicator. One of mine sits and watches the water running out of the tap. he has the odd slurp or two of water - it is hard to tell how much they have actually consumed.
I hope that it is just a one-off incident. She is still so young. :-)
That's very young for a kidney problem so I think that I would be taking her to the vet. I am currently worrying about my 14-yr-old cat's flooding of her litter tray . I took her to the vets' about a month ago and they could not fault her apart from 'getting on a bit'. Since then the litter-tray has become much more problematic - but she doesn't seem to require more water. !!!!
