I started a thread on this a year ago http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Science/Question1369002.html and it ran to 324 posts, you could take look and save a lot of argument, I doubt id any of the contenders have changed their tune.

It's simple logic. The cell needs to pass on a programme to create other cells.
The cell cannot write its own programme. This information came argon ally from a programmer. ie I.D.
