When Brown introduced the tax credits it was to cost 1Bn, it is now 30Bn+ so something is wrong. As Gromit points out much is to do with cheap labour and that has to be sorted out, but that is what the increased min wage is all about.
The tax payer cannot continue to fund corporates.
In addition Tax Credits are far too complex and should be abolished completly for something simpler and better engineered to help those that really need it.
I think the comment was to highlight the fact that some cultures realize that, working for a living and, not being reliant on government handouts may be a better alternative. The left do like their human zoo.
//The issue of his wife being Chinese is neither here nor there and he shouldn't have brought it up in the first place...pillock !//
Perhaps it was to illustrate to the wilfully slow that he had a particular insight into the work ethic inherent in the Chinese mind set. It also of course negates any future rehearsed slur against his family from the echo chamber, which is only inclusive when the ones they would embrace adhere to their own dogma.
Working Tax credits can be claimed by the self-employed. Apparently its a well-known fast track to the benefits system Get yourself a business number, start up any business - knitting socks to sell on ebay -anything it doesn't matter - put in a claim for WTC based on projected income and before you know it you are in receipt of max WTC.
Sandy -yes this is what happens -they become big issue sellers as self-employed and apply for WTC . If they have children and a partner they can end up on maximum WTC and childcare up to £3000 a year.
