Have been to both and enjoyed them immensely. We don't drink beer (ha) but did visit many museums etc.

Brussels - beer & chocolate. We've had a few really good short breaks in Brussels. Took advantage of the cheap flights with Ryanair, but you need to check the times of arrival & departure as sometimes the flights are either really early or arrive there quite late therefore wasting almost a full day. Easy city to get around, good accommodation and excellent bars & restaurants.

Another popular destination is Barcelona (Ryanair again). Loads to see & do.

I suppose it depends on where you are in UK.

We went to Norway - flew to Torp airport with Ryanair, if yo hire a car you can see so much - roads empty - drove straight into Oslo. Excellent sculpture park ( name escapes me but you would find it if you google), we drove up tp where the Winter Olympics were held and saw the ski jump etc

Went to Barcelona last month for a 2 night break Great city, saw loads, did loads, but certainly not everything so looks like I'll have to go back! Just google Gaudi and you'll be able to see some of the amazing buildings and things that we saw designed by him. Great shopping aswell, good bars, warmer than here, so not a bad place to go!

Budapest....cheap flights, only 2 hrs or less flight time, and a fantastic city to look around

Just come back from saltzburg via ryanair. Lovely place, scenery breathtaking and food and drink good.(couple of good irish bars too!)
