My DIY book says I should emulsion before glossing. My logic says it would be better to gloss first so that I can put masking tape on the edges and then do the emulsion (easier to wipe mistakes off)....

can old lead pipes be sucessfully joined by a compression joint to new copper fittings as the one i have under my bath (the hot pipe) has spung a leak twice from the compression nut on the lead pipe...
