Do you need to be christened to be Godparent?

My sister has been asked to be a Godparent to a friend's child, the only problem is she is not christened. Can she still be a Godparent?

do i need god parents to get my son baptised.

i know it is tradition to have god parents at a baptism, but is it necessary. as i dont really know any one well enough to ask to be in that position, and it dosnt feel right to ask just any one.
