AB site running slow?

I'm new to AB, and really like the layout etc. But I have found that the whole thing seems to be running really slow. Is this normal, or is there a reason for this?

I hate yahoo answers but....

...it's so easy to use. Can't you take a look at their scheme, and see if you can't tweak your site a little bit? I like the AB site, but find it really difficult and slow to use.
