Garmin update

How do i update my Garmin portable sat nav unti? i have no leads or anything to connect it to my pc. i am unfamilar with the process so any help would be appreciated. thanks

I'm considering a golf, 306, ? Any other ideas? don't want to spend more than around 3k, and must have cruise control for the long boring motorway drives ..... YAWN ..... not too sure on the different...
