Why Would You 'cross' Brussels Sprouts?

I never heard of this until today. Apparently some people carve a cross shape into sprouts before cooking. Any idea why you would do this?

Long Tailed Tits

We've just counted at least 30 in our Cherry Tree. We noticed them a couple of days ago and counted about 12/15... The tree looks as thought it's moving with them. Amazing :o)
