Could anyone help me cooking a roast dinner for my gf

OK, I've got a joint of beef 1.29 kgs,just put it in the oven on gas 5. Do I put the lid on the roasting tin, how long will it take to cook, and how do I get decent roast potatoes? Any help...

What does B.C.E. mean?

In relation to historical dates, you have A.D.(anno domini), and B.C.(before Christ). Lately, I've noticed it's more commonly written as B.C.E. , so what's the E stand for, and why the change? Thanks...
