why has my peugeot 206 lost its power

my peugoet 206 turbo diesel has suddenly lost all its power it starts ok and runs ok just no power when i put my foot down can anybody throw any ideas .could it be the turbo that has packed up ? how...

why does my temperature gauge fluctuate so much. When i set off from cold the gauge seems to take along time to start moving when it does move it rises to 80 then drops right back down again straight...
