Hdmi cable no sound on tv

I am trying to connect a dell laptop to a sony tv via a hdmi cable, but I don't get any sound on the tv. I am running widows 7 on the laptop. I don't get an option to set hdmi as sound default

I am trying to save some home video movie from cd to external hd but when I have saved it it doesn't show the different titles or chapters like it does on my laptop, am I doing something wrong?

I have tried to log off my lap top - using vista- and it seems to be frozen on the logging off page. It will not allow any other commands such as ctl alt del. can anyone help?

I retuned my panasonic set top box on Wednesday and since then I have lost BBC 1,2,3 & 4. But BBC news and CBBC are ok. The other tvs in the house using other digi boxes are ok. Can anybody help...
