I don't get too involved in too many threads but I do read through a lot of them. I know from experience that many Abers are brilliant in willingly offering knowledgeable and sensible advice whilst many others are very sympathetic and supportive in the Body and Soul category. But, often these responses are not even acknowledged by the OP. Is there not some way Answerbank can remind the OP that well meaning folk have taken the time and trouble to think about their problem and answer it? Just a suggestion

Yes -its annoying -but try and think of the bigger picture -your answer was not just for the OP but for anyone surfing the Net that may have a similar problem and lands on your answer.

that's what the best answer is for but years ago we had red stars, we could award up to 4 i think, one star was rude though lol

But if the OP doesn't even acknowledge answers, how can a best answer be awarded DJHawkes? Thanks for the reply
Great in theory but not sure how it would work in practice....any ideas, rsvp?

Crosswords suffers from this big time, so I sympathise - I see it as a "cost" of being on AB and keeping it going as we benefit in other ways, companionship and the snotties - even they are welcome!

DTcrossword - good and balanced answer, thank you and maybe that's the way I should look on it. However.............it still leaves a bit of a bad taste that people can be so inconsiderate. Maybe it's a indication of how our society is going. It's nice to know though, that most of ABers are 'good guys'.
I guess if AB was going to send out reminders to the thousands of unanswered posts, they'd need more staff at AB Towers....
I think there are occasions where people post later in the evening, and for one reason or another (maybe one too many) forget to check back on their post the next day. (not guilty m'lud)

Boxtops - there's staff employed by AB???????
and AYG I'm sure there is an element of truth in your answer but......no, sorry,.....cannot believe Abers consume alcohol!!!!
Well I do rsvp...only the occasional red wine though ;o)

I agree with your sentiments rsvp...but I don't think you can ever get some people to acknowledge the help they get. :o(
Sad but true rsvp.
some people just aren't all that polite. I wouldn't bother about it. If you feel annoyed about it, just blacklist them and don't answer future questions from them; it's all you can do, really.
Hi jno...It's what I always mean to do and then I forget who I've blacklisted :o(
Question Author
I agree with you jno and feel better having expressed my feelings
Maise :-)))) - mine's a Merlot
Aww. that's a shame rsvp....I've just finished the last bit in the bottle. maybe tomorrow :o)

This question has come up time and time again, even by moi. I realise sometimes people forget acknowledgement or they are just ill-mannered and ungracious.

I think other viewers or members sometimes benefit from questions and answers given so 'blacklisting' would be selfish and waste of knowledge.

However Rsvp, I do understand your plight.

An ABer, who, some time ago, asked for help with a crossword clue, was chided for not giving a 'thank you' to those who assisted. The ABer's reply indicated surprise that a 'thank you' might be considered a desirable thing to do. 'I didn't think that it was necessary to say thank you' was the tone of the reply. So, perhaps some people ask questions and assume that the answers are provided by robots who/which just sit here and wait to be activated?
:)s @ bookbinder. You are funny.

I assume Ed presses the bookbinder button and poof your answer appeared. :)
Just feed me a juicy microchip now and again, society, and I'm ready for anything!
