Ed-Ing And Mod-Ing

I fully understand that it's the Ed's site and them's the site rules...
..just for clarity though, are there a generally agreed set of standards between various Eds and Mods about what is an acceptable posting and what isn't, and are they - more or less - evenhandedly applied?

In a desperate attempt to get back to the point (we are in EdsBlog after all) can I just summarise a bit :
1. It's the Ed's site - if we don't like it we can go elsewhere
2. But that doesn't (or at least shouldn't) preclude us having a grown up, discussion about perceived/real problems
3. At the moment there seems to be some distinct inconsistency in how users are treated - some are mocked openly and waved goodbye if they show any dissent - possibly because they don't wave their own problems around on the site & so are assumed, sometimes incorrectly, to be 'big enough to cope'. Whereas others live their lives rather more publicly and are cut an infinite amount of slack - not always in their best interests if you accept the view of some of the professionals in the relevant fields
4. This may be (I certainly incline to this view) because there is a new member of the editorial team who hasn't quite got the hang of things yet. A bit too anxious to join in the fun, but then prone to chucking everyone else's toys out of the pram for them if it goes pear shaped?
5. The (quite clever) myth of One_Ed rather than Many_Eds is usually useful, but perhaps this mask has slipped a bit too far over the last few weeks and some team building needs to be done at AB Towers
6. But this may all be the ramblings of a tired dave who is taking it all a bit too seriously for his own good

I don't think there's just been the one Ed for a while. Not quite sure how many there are at the moment but I think there's a Weekend Ed, and maybe still a Night Ed, not sure. But as far as I know the daylight-hours gnome is always the same person.
As for inconsistency, well, it's a bit like being among friends; you adapt your approach to what you see as their strengths or weaknesses; you laugh at some people you think can take it, not at others you perceive to be a bit lacking in self-esteem; those in trouble you try to help as best you can. As long as Eds and mods aren't meeting somewhere to ensure uniformity of approach, I think that's the best we can expect.

I don't really want to know who the Mods are, firstly because people should be posting in a civilised way regardless of whether or not they think they're subject to scrutiny and secondly, I think Mods should be free to use the site in the same way as anyone else.
For the rest, the op was made in a particular set of circumstances yesterday that sunny-dave's 23.07 post, points 1-3, sum up for me.
Thanks to all for the contributions.

anne's contribution sums it up for me too:
//ed's site, ed's game, ed's decisions. I do dislike the inconsistency of posts removal, I dislike personal comments from the ed to abbers. id like all mods to sing from the same hymn sheet, we should know who the mods are. but hey ho , like or lump it .:o//
Just ad eds after i'd like all the mods.......
