Faos Etc

I've lost track of where this discussion has got to but is there any kind of plan to have a category for FAOs. It will almost certainly be abused but it is becoming a little tedious.
There are frequently threads directed to 'the experts' which don't take account of the expertise of others and are therefore self limiting. Particularly when there is a poster with more recent and pertinent experience.
And then there are the FAOs along the lines of 'Thanks Chumbawamba I've fixed it'
Not to mention the 'FAO Eric, are you about?'
Yes, you can avoid them but sometimes it is difficult to especially when they are in a specialist category rather than Chatterbank!
Please either a tightening/reminder of the rules or a 'Calling your Name' category.

you can avoid them as i do (because im not in the slightest bit interested or nosey enough to ask) or ask what they are about and run the risk of being jumped on as people get defensive - there are a couple of such threads running at the moment
i could see how that could be off putting to new member of the site and how it could look cliquey (there i dared to say it....)

I don't mind FAO threads if they also invite other to post with experience and/or expertise.
A few threads are clearly designed for just a few people 'in the know' to post on them.
This was okay years back when CB was so fast the Q got pushed down the page pretty quickly and we didn't have a 'latest post' box..

I can see that a separate Topic would have its merits - especially for those whose only means of communicating with one another is here (ie, no FB or Email access).
The threads you mention don't irk me too much as I stick my beak into anything and everything if I feel like it (I think nosey cow is the term).

I agree too with the comment about posts being directed to a specific person (factor was one of the targets some while back!), or people asking for sqad's help when (with no disrespect to sqad) there are other people with direct experience of whatever condition they're asking about, who can also help. It feels rude on those threads to butt in, if I know the answer.
Maybe it shouldn't just be for FAOs but more generally about AB users. Just recently there have been some threads asking which old users are missed or whatever happened to so-and-so; they could go there. I have previously suggested a hatched, matched and dispatched topic since people post news about their own families or other ABers that they know away from the site, so those sort of threads could also be incorporated into a topic about ABers.
