Hello Ed and Auntie

I understand that the word bloody was recently removed from the swear filter. Any chance the word c r a p can be let through too?

I don't think it's any more offensive than poop or poo? Although if others do find it offensive, I respect your stance.

:-)

This thread has an air of school playground about it.

I seem to remember a time before a swear filter on here? (Or am I making that up?)

Anyway, I'm quite happy to see the odd mild naughty word, but think that a site full of the more extreme language would put folk off posting and joining.
It could be my failing memory, but I'm sure there was a time when *** was allowed but *** was not.
Obviously got it the wrong way round!
I'm off....feel like I've had my knuckles rapped.......
neither K-u-n-t nor anything like it are Maori names.
I think it's the thin end of the wedge allowing some swear words through the filter. As time goes on, more and more words will be requested and allowed and, before long, some posts will be littered with four letter Anglo Saxon. Not for me, I'm afraid.
It depends what you mean by swear words. To my mind there are only two words which should be automatically filtered out; anything else, if it can be broadcast on TV, should be permitted.

I do think swears are on a sliding scale.

For instance crap just isn't nearly as offensive (if at all) as the F word or "the other one" - to me, anyway.

I guess everyone has different views on what is acceptable language.
When I was in the RAF the whole gamut of obscene language was permissible, apart from one word, ***, and that only in case someone should actually be one, in the literal sense of the word.
The other day it inserted 'Latin' where i patently typed '***'.

Although perhaps it was the fault of the auto text on my talbot.
Interesting. That means I did *** at A Level. Passed, too.
Can you gets pills for an auto text on your Talbot?
I rarely swear, unless under extreme provocation. I have never felt provoked enough to want to use an expletive on this site. Why would you want to?
I've been lurking, + have had to return after my earlier flounce.....am proper giggling at the last few posts......;)

All I can say in response to that, Tilly, is that you must never have read any of AOG's or Mikey4444's posts.
