The Answerbank is operated by Answerbank Ltd which, given that they share the same Kettering address and phone number, appears to be linked closely with SilverDisc Ltd:
http://www.silverdisc.co.uk/
PS: The Nominet listing for this website shows that it uses SilverDisc's name servers:
http://www.nominet.org.uk/whois/lookup?query=theanswerbank.co.uk

However the listing there used to indicate that this site was owned by Crystal Guides, so maybe that's who actually created it:

If Andy-Hughes is around he might be able to tell you more because he was involved in getting things off the ground for AB.
Didn`t it belong to the Daily Mail at one time? which is rather ironic..
I think it was connected with them, or Associated Newspapers anyway, when it started, 237SJ. And of course the Mail still provides much of its content...

i just assumed it was designed/built by 1 or 2 compter savvy people running it from their bedrooms with the help of friends keeping an eye on things, never gave a thought to what sounds like massive companies and national newspapers. Thanks all for your answers
Buenchico - nearly!

Current site was developed by SilverDisc in maybe 2009/10?

Older site was inherited and maintained by Crystal Guides

First version of the site was build by the Daily Mail to help people who want to have Cross Words with each other.
