A-H "I think it's reasonable that an element of human nature is involved in moderation - what one Mod may delete, another may allow - that's simply the nature of moderation. " I agree entirely, but please remember that this is a two-way mechanism and that the perpetrator may not have answered in a way that can be described as rude.....e,g the OP of this thread....

andy-hughes, //I am sure that all Moderators do their best - in spite of regular veiled insults that infer that they have personal agendas, are unfair, take things personally, and so on and so on ....//

Oo-er…. and all I meant was that some mods seem rather more 'Jobsworth' aware than others.

anneasquith, //If we don't like or agree with the rules we can leave .!!//

Indeed … but when a ‘rule’ imposed is not listed in ‘the rules’ confusion is understandable, wouldn’t you agree?
That's a fair point you make, but I imagine the rules would be many pages long if it had to involve general courtesy that should come naturally.
I think it does - generally.
Quite right, Naomi. The way some interpret the rules, elastic doesn't come close to describing it. If I were to make a derogatory and insulting remark to you personally, that would be in breach of the rules and I would expect the usual sanctions to be applied. On the other hand, if I were to make the same remarks about, say, Trump or Corbyn, then I think I wouldn't have broken any rules.

Perhaps a little thought or empathy might be considered by the "Mod" before pressing the delete button?
Miss MarkRae, good fun.
Sqad. I would like to think that Mexican was being somewhat ironic with his "apology". :))
LOL...^^

I think that you are probably right,Togo!
Oh you were, were you Mexican?

extend your standing in the corner to 15 minutes now please, and reflect on the fact we're watching you.....

;-)
Some mods are obviously mind readers - or think they are. I had an answer removed yesterday because it contained asterisks rather than an offensive word!
You're not wrong there, Diddly. The same has happened to me.
Adds diddlydo to THE list as well...

I saw that happen Diddley and was amazed, it made me giggle though - not at you just the daftness of it.

I couldn't see what I had done.It seems ridicules that it is ok to post a clip from Google as an answer but not to suggest looking yourself!I had better make it 20 minutes now!
"Ours not reason why, ours but to clean the stye" - Wordsworth
I some times post this just to confuse em..... You know will "they" remove it :))

--answer removed--
I'm sure Wordsworth would have known the difference between stye and sty.

No argument there.

I do know - and have seen examples - that if the Ed feels a post was deleted without just cause, it can be reinstated. I know because it happened to a post I deleted!

No-one is perfect, but we are all trrying to do our best.
