I’m only asking because on this page it says:

Welcome to the Editor's blog. Here is the place to ask questions about The AnswerBank.

As I’ve just asked a reasonable question asking about my thread, is there any chance it’ll get answered or is it just spite from an over zealous Mod?

Just asking because if this is deleted too you can consider it my last post on the site, just wanted a scintilla if common decency and manners, not much to ask.

Thanks

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who doesn't want to know the result of a particular sporting event should simply stay well clear of social media (and 'interactive' websites, such as AB). However I don't think that having a post disappear is really something worth getting one's knickers in a twist about. I've just spent 10 minutes carefully putting together...

I remember that episode well. I agree. Some folk are far too precious. News is news, whether it be sport or anything else.
It's not precious to expect someone to put a spoiler alert in.
Missing the point ummmm - how does knowing the result alter the entertainment value of the 90 minutes football (for example). If you are really interested in watching football for football's sake then no difference at all. Indeed knowing the result can tell you a bit more about the entertainment value you are likely to receive.

*Other sports apply.
It does, simple as that.
Correct Ummmm.
And I'm not missing the point. I live with football fans, they don't want to know the result.

I quite agree ummmm. I don't want to know the result. It completely spoils it for me.
sport is competative. if the result didnt matter there would not be much point
It isn't that simple Chris, I sit next to my OH, if he glances over to my screen and spots a spoiler in latest posts it's going to ruin it for him. He could simply be waiting for our son to come home so they can watch it together.

thats all the tdf fans who havent been able to see it live want from you too
When there was a recent spoiler about the World Cup Final, the Ed posted a message there reminding ABers to be courteous - by not giving away too much in the title, initial few lines. Discussing the event itself is perfectly in order.

I’m truly heartened to discover the amount of avid cycling fans on the site who’ve shown absolutely no interest whatsoever in competitive cycling of any description in the past. Where HAVE you been??

We need to organise an AB group ride or sportive, be great to meet some of you on the road!

Excuse me whilst I grab my cycling cape.....
god you seem miserable. i am disabled. i cant go cycling but like watching it, ok?
Now you're being silly. Chill, this started off with us explaining why your threads were removed.
Chilldoubt, the Ed's message, after the World Cup spoiler - 'Please do keep the results of sporting events out of thread titles, as a courtesy in case other members haven't seen the results. Thanks!'
You can lead a cyclist to a bike, but you can't make him mount it!
I imagine this pouting self-justification will continue for a while yet...

;o)
I don't think it's too much to ask to put a spoiler alert on a thread
Just put for example - F1 spoiler, In the title and in the post

That way when it appears in latest post nothing is given away

The anticipation Is part of the enjoyment of the event for me
For example an alert just came on my phone - I looked and before I could look away again , I became aware that Lewis was on pole

So now it's not the same when I watch the qualifying
There is a thrill In the anticipation of seeing who can put it on.pole which is right up to the time the chequered flag waves
