Rest assured, Ed/Spare Ed whatever you decide will be wrong ;)

"All of the spammers who post on The AnswerBank have verified their email address."

Yet still they get through! You can spot them a mile off! How can this really be beyond the "ability" of your "techies" [sic]?
How can they be identified as spammers prior to making a post?
They can't. Which is why you do the checks on their first post. This is not difficult. It is industry-standard practice. But, well, you know...
I think Best Answer should only be at the discretion of the OP.

Not interested in emojis - don’t know what each one is and have no desire to. Leave that for those who are on social media. Not me!

I do not consider AB as social media - to me its an open forum.

The ability to edit a post would be good - especially if you’ve made a typo, or hit the Answer button too soon.

Automatic filtering of spam posts for gummies, cbt, keto etc. - anything with those terms should not publish automatically, instead be pending until approved by a moderator. Especially at weekends!

Fix Youtube links - mine never seem to embed.

Image upload would be nice, but not necessary - image hosting sites are available, but admittedly some of the surrounding images on the resultant hosting page may not be appropriate!
JimF I doubt there are any full time 'Techies' . AB is a 'kitchen table' small business. Remember, even spam posts are classed as
'footfall' when pitching for advertising -just saying like :-)
Oh dear I can just image the attached photos on the willy enhancing spam posts lol!
Rest assured, Ed/Spare Ed whatever you decide will be wrong ;)
How much time and money would be involved in developing a new system to identify specific words or phrases in a post for it to go to pre-mod?
None whatever. It's completely industry-standard, except for on this site...
jimF: "Yet still they get through! You can spot them a mile off! How can this really be beyond the "ability" of your "techies" [sic]? " - yes they could look for CBD gummies etc that's most of them!
Just leave it as it is.If it aint broken, dont fix it.
"yes they could look for CBD gummies etc that's most of them!"

I understand you're doing your best to be hilarious, but this really is a very simple thing to implement.
Perhaps you should contact the EDs directly to explain the process?
jimf: "I understand you're doing your best to be hilarious, but this really is a very simple thing to implement. " - no I'm not, I agree it is very simple and most of the spam I see is about "gummies". You don't need a complex spam filter to catch most of it. In IT 90% of the code is for 10% of the situations. Thus 10% of the code gets 90% of the situations, lets at least do the latter.
"Perhaps you should contact the EDs directly to explain the process?"

They would have zero interest in that...
Could we have a section Teenage Angst - to keep the rest of the site free of it!
Definitely not upvotes or likes. It's pointless enough on fb. But surely you want to encourage people to post an answer, than just click?
Definitely not editing, at least not in crossword section :-).
I would say being able to embed mobile YouTube videos, which is a pain for a lot of us on the music threads. Emojis... maybe one at a time.
JIM, if you tell them, at least you have made the effort to try to help.

If it were me, I'd let them know and then it's up to them what they do with that information.
Question Author
Regarding editing posts, what if it was marked as edited and had a little link that said "See original version" which opened up a box showing what the post said before being edited?
Great best answer
