It's years and years since I was a mod and I really can't remember how things worked then. Anyway it's all probably changed.
Do mods have any way of privately getting in touch with each other or supporting each other in difficult situations? I know they do on some sites. As Editors and site owners are often not about, I hope there is support for mods a available off site.
A moderator doesn't need support from other moderators. They're able to act independently, which is usually why they are selected as moderators. The rules are simple and the moderators have guidance.
There are ideas around this topic, however, implementing them is the issue.
If it's true other mods have said on here that they don't know who other mods are any more than the rest of us apart from those who have openly told us.
So can Andy and Naomi support each other? :-))
I would venture to suggest that a Mod should not be the type of person who needs support. This seems to be borne out by the Owner / Eds' choice of the Mods I know on here.
So how do the eds judge who needs support. I was a mod. All they knew is that I hadn't caused any trouble on the site and was a sensible poster. They didn't know how I would react to people ganging up on me. Actually, I don't think I could have handled that and resigned.
