earth calling...

Just a thought, and wondered if anyone here might also be of a similar mind.
The earth was formed a long time ago, and as it has cooled, hardened, produced life, including us - then of course we are actually the earth as much as anything else. Even our thoughts and feelings are "earth". yet we live our lives as though we are apart from everything else, as though our apparent individual minds gives us a distinctiveness over and above the truth of what we are - earth.
Religions, most of them, seem to perpetuate the myth that humanity is special, separate, and in need of saving through "extraction", that is, joining a club which has sole rights to heaven/God/power.
By forgetting what we are, we have lost the paradise of the here and now. And by trying to reach beyond earth to some mystic "otherness" we are surely looking in the wrong place. Our sense of separateness has even led to us self-harming - ie pollution.
We are already home, integrated into the earth, of the earth, as the earth - the sooner we stop striving to become something more than what we are, and learn to live in harmony with the integrated whole - the happier we all will be.
Rant over.

I definately agree with your thoughts that we are not special and in fact it seems that had it not been for the right conditions to develop on earth, then humity would not have been here at all, we are just very lucky indeed. Saying that though, some kind of life probably would have formed, I wonder what we could have looked like?
