Good Day AnswerBankers.

I would like to use this opportunity to thank you very much for your patience. We now have Avatar, for those who want them.

We have decided to use Gravatar's system as it was quick, simple and reliable.

How To Get An Avatar:

First you must sign up to Gravatar.com here: http://en.gravatar.com/site/signup/
(Please use the same email address as you use for The AnswerBank)

Click the link in the email Gravatar sends you.

Create a username and password for Gravatar. These DO NOT have to be the same as your AB username and password.

Log in to Gravatar and select where you want to load an image from:

IF you want to load it from the net, find the picture you want, and its URL, and copy and paste it into the given field.

IF you want to load a picture from your computer, select this option. Click the "Browse" button and find the file you wish to upload to the site. Click "Next".

On the next page crop your image (if you wish) with the small square "handles" on the box within your image. When happy, click "crop and finish".

Rate your Avatar. Answerbank will only accept a "G" rated Avatar.

That is your Gravatar Account Set up. Next...

Hi Shiz - let me know. We've had some fixes implemented over last night. Everything should be working fine now.

I've tried to set-up, an Avatar;
But haven't found it easy, with Gravatar.

The graphic,which I submitted, became over-printed with lines;
So I am left with reasons, for a few more whines.

Ron.

Sad to hear Ron!

What do you mean by "over-printed with lines"?

Spare Ed
Hi Spare Ed,

I submitted what was, in my opinion, a clear fault free 'clip art' graphic.
But the item was then produced by Gravatar with horizontal lines across it; almost as if it had been stamped with a 'Bar-code' Consequently, after a few attempts, I gave up trying any further.

Ron
Hi Ron, have you tried changing the size of the clip art, or using one of the standard Gravatar images.

The RSS is working great ED, no probs at all
Ed, My profile has no 'check box' - can you fix it for me please?
Chris _ mine's at the very top of the profile page.
Chris lots of people early on found no check box, pretend it's there and tick where you think it is, that has worked.
Thanks to you both - I tried again & as you can both see its worked!!! Do you like it?
shiznit.....I've tried to no avail. It's still comes-out with lines across it.

I have therefore asked myself the question..." What is the purpose of an Avatar"? and concluded that, as interesting as many are, they are really pointless.

Best wishes Ron.
Coo - nice chris - that's cheery!
hi ed, tried everything, but i still cant change my current avatar, and as for the tick box, i dont seem to have one!!
Piggy, just spotted this - if you can't see your tick box, tick in the area underneath YO in the phrase at the top "Your avatar is active" - some people's boxes are hidden but ticking in the general area works.
I meet all the conditions for having an avatar and have cleared my cache. My browser is ie8. Still no sign of my avatar despite my receiving the email from Gravatar etc. I can't see it using Opera as my browser either. Help!
sometimes they take a few minutes to show up, Indy. Close your browser, clear your cache and go away and get a life for 5 minutes, then come back and start again (if you can give up your new life).
hi boxtops, tried that still nothing!!
i´ve now officially given up, i´ll have to accept i will always have the same avatar
Ed, is it possible to change your avatar, once submitted to AB? I have changed my current one on gravitate etc..?
1 last question? how the feck do you clear your cache? what is a cache?
control + F5 should clear your cache, I think
