Getting Yourself An Avatar

Good Day AnswerBankers.

I would like to use this opportunity to thank you very much for your patience. We now have Avatar, for those who want them.

We have decided to use Gravatar's system as it was quick, simple and reliable.

How To Get An Avatar:

First you must sign up to Gravatar.com here: http://en.gravatar.com/site/signup/
(Please use the same email address as you use for The AnswerBank)

Click the link in the email Gravatar sends you.

Create a username and password for Gravatar. These DO NOT have to be the same as your AB username and password.

Log in to Gravatar and select where you want to load an image from:

IF you want to load it from the net, find the picture you want, and its URL, and copy and paste it into the given field.

IF you want to load a picture from your computer, select this option. Click the "Browse" button and find the file you wish to upload to the site. Click "Next".

On the next page crop your image (if you wish) with the small square "handles" on the box within your image. When happy, click "crop and finish".

Rate your Avatar. Answerbank will only accept a "G" rated Avatar.

That is your Gravatar Account Set up. Next...

Still can't work out 'The King' remaining in your Profile when you have opted for a new Avatar.

i thought i´d change my avatar, but some unknown reason the photo cropping refuses to work!! hence i am now a black box
any ideas?

If you are bothered about AB's timekeeping, just keep your eyes on the world countdown clock above for a minute or two and see if it moves. What did I imagine you said; "its stopped"...perhaps AB has also.

Hi piggnose......Youv'e drawn a blank on an Avaqtar and I have on the clock.

Left open this page...went away from comp.... had a glass of sherry with Viv...and,upon my return to this thread, the countdown clock hadn't moved a single minute.

hi again piggynose...I can understand the way you feel on matters. In my opinion, and that of others, AB could have set-up it's own facility for Avatars without involving Gravatar; which isn't an easy site to work with.

The Ed doesn't reply over the weekend, but; as you have posted into his personal 'sticky' thread, hopefully he should say something next Monday morning. I hope he does because being left in the dark is something which I cannot take lightly.

No idea why that is happening Piggynose. It seems to suggest it is the default avatar, but this clearly isn't the case.

Have you tried uploading a fresh image to gravatar and setting that as your primary?

PN....... Have another try with Gravatar. It took me numerous attempts to establish an Avatar for Viv and me. If you still get problems, I suggest you post a question in the technology section of AB.

hi ed, my main prob has been, i cant seem to be able to use the cropper to shorten my new image. its always frozen, its doing nothing. no matter what i do.
i´ll give it one more try now, and let you know
