Getting Yourself An Avatar

Good Day AnswerBankers.

I would like to use this opportunity to thank you very much for your patience. We now have Avatar, for those who want them.

We have decided to use Gravatar's system as it was quick, simple and reliable.

How To Get An Avatar:

First you must sign up to Gravatar.com here: http://en.gravatar.com/site/signup/
(Please use the same email address as you use for The AnswerBank)

Click the link in the email Gravatar sends you.

Create a username and password for Gravatar. These DO NOT have to be the same as your AB username and password.

Log in to Gravatar and select where you want to load an image from:

IF you want to load it from the net, find the picture you want, and its URL, and copy and paste it into the given field.

IF you want to load a picture from your computer, select this option. Click the "Browse" button and find the file you wish to upload to the site. Click "Next".

On the next page crop your image (if you wish) with the small square "handles" on the box within your image. When happy, click "crop and finish".

Rate your Avatar. Answerbank will only accept a "G" rated Avatar.

That is your Gravatar Account Set up. Next...

Ive been waiting all day for my Avatar to show :( ive done everything im supposed to i think, it says my Avitar is currently active but i cant see it, any ideas what to do now

Try logging out of AB completelyy. Then clear the cache completely (if IE use Tools, Internet Options, Delete all cookies, history, form data, temp files, okay). Then log back in to AB

piggy, did you cancel the previous avatar over in Gravatar.com and confirm the new one before going into your profile on here? I have changed mine now three times and not had a problem if I do that.

thanx folks, you´ll never guess what the prob was?
i had 2 different email address´s. so as soon as i cancelled the one, then made my new image the primary, then clicked on my image, then ctrl &f5, just like magic, my new avatar appeared in front of my eyes.

Funnily enuf piggy that was my problem too lol, i never realised becausr i had to re register in AB when i got my new laptop for some reason and used my other email addy stupid eh lol

just realised something, when your avatar changes, all previous threads with your old avatar also change, it kind of makes you look a bit silly, especially if you´ve complained about having avatar probs

Hi again piggynose....Apologies. I didn't see your earlier Avatar and appreciate your explanation that all previous threads will have been altered.

Nevertheless, I still think that AB has a number of problems to resolve in view of what you have said about boxtops profile.

In fact I am positive that AB needs a really good tweek because this is a second attempt at posting my present comments. I was halfway through typing and then a page appeared of past information; but I couldn't regain what I had already put into print
