My gaffer was telling me today about her son who saw a guy drive in to the car park, look round, and dump something over the wall. After they did one he investigated and saw that they'd dumped a puppy. He took it home, he can't give it a permanent home as he has two dogs as it is but I have offered to give it a loving home to fill the void left by my recently departed cat. How can people be so heartless, to dump a vulnerable puppy or kitten when there are charities and pounds who will take them off your hands with the guarantee that they will not put a healthy animal to sleep?
It is a six week old female puppy so I don't exactly have to draw a picture to explain why I think it was dumped. She will be sterilised as soon as the vet is happy to do it.
The deal with the gaffer fell through, I wasn't the only one offering a home. So instead I got Judy the Boxer from a local rescue centre. She was declared as being just 2 years old, though that is doubtful by the grey hairs around her chops. Have a butchers at this photo of her and see what you think...
She is lovely - but a bit older than 2. Being a lady dog she might be lying to you to make herself appear young. ;-)
My first cat, George, was adopted from The Cats Protection. They told me that he was 3. The vet I took him to for a check over said that he was nearly 13. He lived with me for 5 years - he was a typical grumpy old man.
Thanks. Took her for a nice long walk this evening, she passed no remarks of any of the moggies brought out by the late sunshine on my estate so I'm confident she'll take to a kitten and vice-versa. I'll go back to the rescue centre after my jollies for a wee pussy.
just looked at the photo spikey!........she's much older than 2 years!........this happens often, they say that the dogs are much younger than they really are!........think she's at least 5 to 8 years old just by looking at the photo!.......what do you think?..........
Yes I was thinking 7 to 8 years old. People think that if they declare the true age of an animal like this then the shelter won't take them. This is not the case. These guys will take any animal if it stops them being abandoned.
Judy is lovely and my family have pots of love to give her.
yes spikey I agree, she's probably around 7 or 8 years old, but hey, no matter!...........if you can give her a loving home, and she's happy it's a win, win situation!........
I think it's more the case that the animal shelters knock a few cheeky years off the age to make them more adoptable - I don't blame them. Congratulations on your new arrival :) x
Tezza is so right!........I have seen it so many times!.........a bit naughty of the rehoming centres, but they are trying so hard to get homes for these animals!........however, I do think that they should be more honest!...................
