My dog broke his leg a couple of years ago. The vet wired his leg up that has left him with a bent leg (at the bottom just above paw) this has put a strain on the joint which has led to arthritis. He doesn't seem to be in pain when he walks, but the following day he is really stiff. Do you think a bandage or some sort of support would help and if so are there special support for dogs? Thank you
You can get Pet Wrap which is good ..have a look here http://www.dogmobility.com/dressingsandwoundca re.html
Have you tried him on a supplement such as Greenleaf tablets or 4Joints ..even a spoonful of vegetable or sunflower on his food now and again may help to keep his joints moving and help the stiffness.
there are lots of supplements on the market that you could try like Devils Claw, or Glucosamine tablets which work well in a lot of cases on dogs with arthritis etc.
You could try www.Hyperdrug.com and get him some pure Glucosamine capsules or try him with a Bioflow magnetic collar - both should do the trick - hope he gets on OK ; 0 )
thank you.
Tried him on Glou.tablets(cant spell the rest!)because they were marvellous on my old colly. They did not appear to help much I wonder if it is because the arthritis is an injury and not the wear and tear sort he takes cod liver oil regularly.
I have also heard that he cannot wear a magnetic collar if they have been chipped - which he has.
Thank you for your help I am going to try devils claw as my next step
My dog sprained her Cruciate ligaments in her back legs and could not get up from sitting or walk. The vet gave her a course of Cartrophen injections and she is now back to normal.
