Hi there. My two year old Weimaraner GSP cross boy has being diagnosed will allergy problems. The main symptom is inflamed ears which then become dirty and sticky. We are working with the vet who is excellent but the steroid tablets which helped at first have stopped being effective at a dose which is acceptable in terms of side effects for the dog. The next stage is to try a topical steroid spray which we will start on monday. We have cleaned up his diet which has helped a lot but not solved the problem. We have also tried
Canaural drops (the thick yellow ones)
Thornit powder
We currently use ear cleaning solution made from boracic and lactic acid to clean his ears (at vets suggestion) plus the steroid tabs and evening primrose oil capsules, again at vet's suggestion.
has anyone else had experience of this and can you make any suggestions please?
He has bare, not hairy ear canals and is as good as gold about the twice daily cleaning and treatment.
thanks

Ooooh Woofy ..that is sooo tempting .Great reductions but I must stand firm .
I'm going into town tomorrow to get something to wear as it's my neices 40th on Saturday and we've got a family do at a local hostelry.
I need a top of some description that covers all wobbly bits .
Anyway hope you are all OK .
Lovely bright sunny day here Robinia and I've not long been up the garden to see if my washing was getting dry and I waved like mad and blew a kiss for you in that direction .xx
ooh thanks shaney, I'm glad the sun shone on them...they've probably had a karaoke session this afternoon. :o)

I keep nipping back to the handbags, I've never been a patent biddy but I loved those tote bags in the top ten, in all the colours.

I doubt there'll be any jubbly street parties around here this year but I'm sure I could dig out some doilies and plastic table cloths if asked.
oh btw, before I put me anorak on and shuffle into H&G have any of you ever had clean, clear tap water go slightly cloudy (and stay that way) when it's been boiled? It's not the kettle, the same happens in a saucepan.
Not had that Robinia .It does go slightly cloudy when boiling eggs though come to think of it .But otherwise ,no.Mind you our water is like iron filings anyway Really hard .I'm forever descaling the kettle etc .
My friend over the road did a test boil & said she could see a slight discolouration...they're probably adding sommat to the water to keep us old boogers calm...according to the Severn Trent website we're moderately hard here :o)

Well I've just ordered a bit of disco from amazon, Donna Summer's Gold, I heard a track this morning & can't get it out of my head. A spot of dancing around my handbag in the kitchen, that'll cheer me up...even more so if it was a new handbag.....?? :o)

Donna Summer....that takes me back....Robi you will be zumba-ing next. Long day but lots of progress. Its nice to see the house look better again, I am desperate to get out in the garden but its too cold at present. Dogs are rioting round the living room.
Haven't forgotten you x
ah, the afternoon tea was in Harrods, so that was nice, scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, lots of little sweetmeats including a little tart with gold leaf on it, and a presentation about luxury cruising, which is definitely on my lotto list.

We walked out through the pet spa, which has a long one-way window so you can see your dogs being shorn and scrubbed and pampered within an inch of their lives but they don't get overexcited seeing you. Also a dog-sized treadmill for when your dog walker has his annual day off. I expect woofy has similar things at home.
Ugh shattered, 3 hrs carnivalling and I am done for, Mr N was home before me and cooked a lovely meal, thank heavens I didn't stop into the last bar as was my intention! Tucked up in bed with sore feet, full of vino, mojitos, and olives plus Mr N's dinner, oight oight, catch you manana!!

jno my boys have a memory foam upholstered rebounder (my bed) and an outdoor spa (large flat bowl supposed to be a birdbath) They have had a lovely day today supervising my MWD. I will try to make Shughy settle tonight so we go out in the morning, but if he gets me up at midnight, 2am and 3 am, then we don't go out at 5 because its hard to drive with your eyes shut.
Time for bed methinks, oight oight (sambas up the stairs a la Neti)
Oight Oight all. Emptied lounge, and curtains down but I've got blinds as well so nobody can see in thank goodness.
See you when i can get plugged in again. Sleep toight!! x
Must go to bed and stop perusing handbags .Yes I rather like the patent tote Robinia .Same style as my Tula bag which really has seen better days but I think it'll go another summer .
Tea at Harrods sounds nice Jno ..I shall be lunching at the Pommes Frites stall tomorrow dans le Marche.
Oight Oight .Sleep toight .

oooo Shaney how tres snob of you. I sniffled over the last Call the Midwife last night. What a magical series. Not fond of Upstairs Downstairs. Dogs jave run around, eaten loads and are now back asleep. I have to do some prep for MWD so no kip for me.
not out of the woods yet with insomnia: tobed and to sleep at 12, awake again at 4. Watched some cricket and a silent Japanese movie, so now I'll just potter around a while until I fall asleep again, I suppose. Perhaps I had too much champers with afternoon tea, there was quite a lot splashed around.

I've only just realised as you go up the escalators at Harrod's, all these carved pharaonic faces staring down at you seem to be al-Fayed. I can't find any google images to demonstrate this though.
Morning all, what a veritable encylopaedia we are, memory foam for dogs, handbags for shaney, insomnia for jno, blinds for jude and Robi?? I have a well earned headache this am, and Mr N then told me I have to get up at 7.30 to take him and his van to the garage for new tyres (failed MOT), I was crashing and bashing about the road but all ok NOW.

Lovely sunny day, so am washing the sheets.

Morning all. Jno is the memorial still in Harrods? I wondered what would happen to it when Harrods got sold. It's cold here. I have the door open as its going to rain later and I want the dogs to settle then so I can close the door. MWD is changing the kitchen tap and he's going to put my magic mirror up later. It's like this

I know it's naff but I love it.
A quick good morning all. Up stairs tidying up while my Decorator starts his painting downstairs. I can't stay with him else he talks for England!! He's a nice man though.
Catch yer later 'gater(s)
