we acquired a stray that had the same diagnosis about a month ago - we took her to the vet because she was permanently hyper, and she was hungry all the time. one month on and she's a lot calmer, and isn't eating non-stop, but she's still not right. the vet has given us another 2 month's supply and he wants to see her again then.
the vet thought Rover might have a thyroid problem because his heartbeat was irregular, but thankfully it was because he was agitated at the time.... but I do feel for you, Rover has kidney disease but his medication is very successful. I wish you and your cat well, do please keep us informed!
Thanks boxtops and mushroom25 yes she is displaying all of the behaviours explained in that website. Out of the 3 main illnessess older cats get diabetes kidney failure and throid probs the later is the easiest to treat and the wee soul she is just letting me pop the pills in her mouth so long as there is a treat before and after...........I can cope with that!!! Will keep you informed of course. x
Glad she takes medicine easily - my Rover takes his kidney table out of my hand, so we are both lucky on that front! ♥ to you and puss, I hope she improves soon - once these conditions stabilise, it looks as if the prognosis is good. Long lives to our cats!
