Petition to change law for cats
122 Answers
It is 2am so I am unable to write a coherent chunk of text.
The following link explains what changes are needed to make motorists obligated to report hitting a cat on the road.

If this is something that you think is a good idea this petition is up and running

I know that some local authorities scan dead cats to see if there is a microchip which will indicate the name and address of the cat and its staff - but many don't. Maybe that is something else that could be considered.

I tried getting my two to play fetch - but they just looked at me as if I was nuts.
hc - realisticall y I can't see the new law being implemented, but to have a pet go missing presumed dead is a horrible experience.

Doc, you often talk as if you are in your twilight years. For goodness sake you are only mid 60's. Are you expecting to die young. If anything happens to my dog and my cat I would happily adopt others, especially the older ones who desperately need homes.
I will sign your petition Wolf. To me a cat and a dog should be treated equally. I have lost three to the roads in my time and the fact that people treat them like wild rabbits is appalling. My cats and dogs are part of our family.
It amazes me that people who don't like cats have to make silly or throw away comments on such threads as yours, or other threads in the pets section.

I understand that people dislike cats - but to knock over a cat and do nothing about it) and feel no guilt or concern about the pain and suffering caused to both cat and its human family is a not a sign of a civilised and caring individual.
If a person can be that callous to another species of animal how do they treat their fellow humans?

Wonder whether Dennis would have actually got on the bus with you?
We have had a couple of cats who have come on our dog walks with us. Forunately, this is only over the fields behind us but they used to come the whole distance. We would have to wait for one of them because she would often climb a tree or two. She then would be carried home (spoiled cat)
