Hi! I'm hoping someone can help, the last couple of days our dog (patterdale/jack russell 2 years old) has seemed really scared wev mostly noticed it at night. It started Saturday night at my moms house he kept disappearing & we'd find him hiding in a corner upstairs. Sunday night was the same but this time at home, hiding upstairs/under the table. Now he is just sat on his bed he won't go out in the garden we have to walk him to ensure he goes toilet before bed. We really don't no what to do. We think it could be a number of things; our neighbours & their dog who max spent a lot of time with moved recently? fireworks? My sisters dog came round the other day & was really naughty and got told off? any ideas?
Are you in the UK, only noticed the word 'moms'...I dont think they celebrate Bonfire Night in the USA.
However, I can only suggest lots of reassurance and praise to boost his confidence when out walking and inside the house...will he come out of hiding for tidbits or treats ? Coax him to come to you and reward him with lots of high pitched words of praise...I hope it helps. Something has scared the poor chap.
My dog is the same-though I know from last year that she is terrified of fireworks-or any loud, sudden noises. All you can do is reassure, and be very gentle with him. He relies on your voice to tell him all is ok.
