Black Beauty horses

In the film adaptation of Black Beauty, what breed was Merrylegs the pony? And does anyone know a site that has information on all the horses used?

There have been numerous films entitled Black Beauty based on Anna Sewell's 1877 novel...... the earliest may have been 1933.  An older version I saw as a child had a Welsh pony as a friend of Black Beauty...

I was referring to the most recent film (1994 I think!)

The pony in the book and in the film were Welshies (sec B, I would think)

I don't know which team did the horses for Black Beauty but the main horse that played Beauty was called Justin (don't know why I remember that!)

Might be worth looking at The devil's Horseman - they did the horses for Troy, Braveheart etc...
