Found two dead baby birds in the garden earlier directly under where I think there is a nest. They were tiny so hardly walked out of the nest and fell. Can anyone shed any light on what might have happened? (I think they would have grown into some sort of little birds judging by the bird I saw collecting bits for a nest, but there has been an evil blackbird lurking around - sorry, don't like their beaks or nasty eyes.) thanks.

If I somehow got that (evil) blackbird stuck in my hair I would have a heart attack.
We had a nest in the garden a couple of years ago, when the eggs hatched and the baby birds were getting a bit bigger, the nasty seagulls came and took them all, it was horrible watching it happen.
Sherr. As said I love birds but one in my garden was really nasty. We wondered if it had behavioral problems and needed counseling. The local sparrowhawk had it for lunch one day and I regret to say I was glad to see the back of it.
What have you got against blackbirds sherr - they are not evil at all and most certainly wouldn't have killed these poor baby birds!! Probably a magpie or crow or something of that nature, or even a cat .....
