Son is with dads for a week. They are miles away. Came out of work to a txt saying his dad had bought him not one but TWO rabbits and can he bring them home. He knows I didnt want rabbits/gerbils etc as you always need to have somebody on hand to look after them if you are away, and I would be the one to end up looking after them. Says he will keep them in his room but we also have cats and I just dont think its practical. Has rang me pleading and I said no but I feel awful.
Anybody have house rabbits??

You did the right thing. Rabbits should not be kept indoors.
Print some of these off and leave them lying around....

Oh dear, they really should have asked you first shouldn't they. Poor rabbits are the most neglected of animals. They are bought as "toys" for the kiddies and then of course the children get fed up with them hence the neglect. Are you going to give in? They don't live a long time (in their defence).

LOL, you are evil!

I have googled rabbits blah blah but just don't like being on the spot!
Very irresponsible of his dad to buy these rabbits when they are obviously so unwanted. Dad should have checked with you first, not the rabbits fault. What sort of life will they have now ?
just say no...your home your rules so far as pets are concerned.
You say he's already bought em yet son is pleading? for what exactly? He's already got them???

Can't the rabbits stay at his dads?

Pleading to bring them home with him. His dad lives hours away and so he wouldnt see them hardly.
yes say how nice of him to buy them
and he keeps em there
see how he likes it..git
Yep!

As much as I quite like house rabbits they can be a pain in the bum because of their nibbling tendency. Fried bunny is NOT good in the living room.

If you give in, insist they live outside or 'Bugs' gets it. At this point hand out recipes for Jnr Smow to choose from. It might focus his mind.....
My friend had house rabbits....

Which turned to house rabbitsssssss they multiplied i think she ended up with 9 and struggled to give them all away!

Do they need to b in the house? A nice hutch and a run outside... They can be hard work i think hutches need cleaned weekly! Make mini smow do that if they come to yours!!! Good responsibility...

Cats now thats a problem. Xx
id give him two choices...

1- they stay there
2- they can come home, but go outside in a suitable hutch and are looked after properly daily.

Secret option number 3....

Next door has 2 rabbits (along with a snake and a Chinese Crested rat).........the rabbits are bigger than my Westie.
We had a house rabbit which had a cat flap so it could go outside into a large enclosed run- worked very well but if you don't want them then he'll be better keeping them at his dads.
Bet his dad doesn't want to look after them.
Why do people always want to cook them - these are pets for funks sake !!!!
Surprised at you BOO, thought you cared about animals.
It was a joke, a bad one maybe but a joke- honest!
no way jose. Son and his dad both presume too much. Tell them to kep rabbits at his dad's.
Foot down, assert yourself smow.
As rowan says, your house your rules.

lol B00.
my next door neighbour has a rabbit, outside in a hutch..she has had it 15yrs? long before she moved next door.

tell him he has to leave them at his dads, he bought them without asking you,
either that or not at all. Son will learn then to say that he should ask you first about anything else that may crop up.
