We appear to have been adopted! This afternoon a little white and torty kitten turned up in my kitchen (she just walked in through the cat flap). I know all the local cats and haven't seen her before. She has fleas and obviously an allergy and was VERY hungry. She's also a feisty wee madam who took a lump out of my hand when I tried to put her in the box to take her to be scanned at the vets.

No chip, so she has been released outside, but she looks SO lost.

Mr BM is already in love with her so I think if she can't find her way home or decides to stay we have number 5.

However, I shall be putting a sign above the cat flap saying "No Vacancies at the Cat Hotel". I shall keep you posted.......

wonderful, barmaid - she's come to a home which loves cats (they know, y'know).... I'd keep her.
She's adopted you, BM.
Well done you BM that is one lucky kitty. I would advertise the fact that a cat had adopted you just in case there is a family somewhere looking for a cat x

She disappeared for 10 mins but is back hanging around outside now. Fatboy is guarding the flap so she can't get back in. If she's still around later, I will feed her and give her some water (I know that is encouraging her but she's starving).

I've let the vets know, Flump (if she is from round here, that is the vets where she'll be registered). If she's still about in a couple of days I'll put her pic up in the two local shops.
... not sure that a polite notice above the cat flap will deter further visitors
we're on our third stray to have just turned up and stayed - this latest one arrived pregnant and has provided us with 3 kittens which have proceeded to terrorise the others. cute tho' they are, 7 cats is impractical, and reluctantly the kittens will have to go :-(
Do you want another little tortie barmaid 1careful owner!!

thanks Helen, but NO!!!

The little cat is still wandering up and down our street. When I went to the shop it was sat outside a house 5 doors down but now it's back outside next doors.

Mr BM is saying things like "we've got enough cats, but she is ever so sweet" "we did have 5 before". lol what a softie.
You'll cave in lol.
You'll have to talk to the other four, they'll decide for you.
Yep, put it to the vote !
Good idea, how did the other 4 react to her when she came in?
When I was growing up, we got a B&B tom cat - next door farm and he had been abused - even chip fat in his fur. Over three years, (seven cats inside), he slowly gained confidence to eat off a cat-dish in the window, then on the sill inside, then the kitchen sink and finally the floor. When my parents came to move, my parents asked the vet who said to take him as he had adopted us. He had a great last five years of his life, his fur recovering, and was just known as "Mogs".

lol, the others weren't all that bothered. The wee one did the "hissy spitty" thing though. Fatboy was a bit careful round her, Arnie had a look and then ignored her. I'm not entirely sure ASBO actually noticed her because he was having a mental five minutes. Binnie did the "talk to the tail" thing.
sounds OK to me, then!
Next time you are up in my neck of the woods I could give you two lovely cats to adopt. They are no problem to look after and love each other so much - being siblings they never fight. Ever so loving to each other and their human.

I think that I have just used my annual allocation of fibs in one paragraph.
Of course she will keep you. She knows a good thing when she sees it.

She's back. Next door's cat just chased her off though cheeky git.
How do you get rid of the fleas?
