Frog in pond

Hello .I have a small pond in my garden to try to attract wildlife.Two weeks ago my son brought me a frog that he found on a road.On Wednesday ,I noticed it was lying on the bottom of the pond .I thought it was dead but my son said to leave it alone ,it may have hibernated .Please excuse my ignorance but I thought it would hibernate in one of the bushes in my garden or in some long grass .I would be greatful for any imformation.Thankyou.

Aquatic frogs hibernate under water and take in oxygen from the water through their skin.:)

We almost hooked out 2 frogs that we really thought were dead on the bottom of our rather large pond. MISTAKE!
They were mating and glued together and just wouldnt move. haha,
We find the odd ones at the bottom of pond, and we leave well alone now.

There are frogs in my garden but no pond. Where are they going to hibernate in the winter?

sandyRoe, we have had toads hibernating in the soft mud on the raised bed at the bottom of our garden. We've almost sliced them in two before, so we tread carefully when doing gardening in the spring.

They are usually up and 'at it' in our pond before winter's end
