As far as I know Wildwood, it's for real. I always check Snopes with stuff like this. I saw the original on Reddit and believe me they would be the first to rip it to shreds if it were fake.
As mentioned by Ratter, they were once used to hunt wolves and the like so could easily carry off a child and have a look on youtube for eagle and goat videos.
