For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.im doing it to glyn davis (im in wales) and one argument I had was that the dogs are drugged to run slow. then the owner says their dog is great and everyone bets. then the dog loses. this happenes 3 or 4 times then people stop betting. then the owner doesn't drug the dog for that next race, becomes the onlyone voting(making the odds rise) and then wins allot of money!!!!!!!!
Greyhounds are tested for drugs before every single race. Actual incidents of doping are so few and far between because the penalties are very high. The only way a dog can be 'stopped' is by feeding beforehand (but they are also weighed before each race and if more than a kilo over or under their previous racing weight they have to be withdrawn) or exercised too much before a race (but if their time is even slightly different to their previous time then the trainers are liable to face a stewards enquiry). I suggest you read the Rules of Racing before writing your letter - and perhaps find out more about greyhound racing before making such allegations.
As for PETA perhaps you would like to read the truth about this so called Animal Rights organisation before making up your mind! http:// www.pet akillsa nimals. com/

Yes Lanky. Financially motivated propaganda is all very well but it is probably a good idea to also bear in mind that:
/The CCF, which appears to be leading the charge on Shelter-gate, gets its support from restaurants and food companies and has butted heads with PETA before, LiveScience noted.
And PETA spokeswoman Jane Dollinger said in a statement that the allegations are financially motivated, calling CCF an industry group whose “goal is to damage PETA by misrepresenting the situation,” according to LiveScience. The group maintains that while many animals did have to be euthanized, the 90% figure was higher than PETA’s internal numbers.
PETA told the Daily Mail that the animals they take in at the center are usually difficult to find homes for and would presumably end up being euthanized anyway: “Most of the animals we take in are society’s rejects: aggressive, on death’s door or somehow unadoptable,” Dollinger noted./
