Mushroom Compost V Horse Manure

I can get both mushroom compost and horse manure. Which is best for what? I grow a mix of flowers/shrubs and the usual veg - the veg not very successful this year. I believe that root vegetables do not do well in manured plots although I had more success with spuds than with carrots and such like. TIA

We used to be able to get mushroom compost - an extra benefit was that we had a wonderful crop of mushrooms the next year.

Horse manure is much more useful, IMO. Mushroom compost is very light weight.

Mushroom compost is a by-product, therefore most of the nutriens have already been used up. It is usefull for improving soil texture and also contains lime, good if you're growing brasicas.
Horse manure is excellent but Must be well rotted ie best at 3 years old.
