I looked them up and they don't seem to be round here normally which is why I wondered what sort of bird it was .
It's not April 1st is it yet. No not quite it's definitely a gannet maybe it got blown off course from somewhere. It does look rather fluffed up. Gannets usually look sleek.
There is one more picture but I don't like to put it up as there are a couple of young girls sitting on the sand quite near to it . From the close proximity of them to the bird I would have to say that it is probably injured :(
Yes definitely a gannet but not in its usual habitat, which would usually be a more remote rock outcrop.
My guess is its probably was blown off course or somehow lost its way.
