Colours Of The Saône And The Rhône

Yesterday I did a boat trip in Lyon, where the Saône and the Rhône meet. It was pointed out that the two rivers have different colours and this could clearly be seen.
Does anyone know why?

Assuming that it's natural (rather than due to pollution) it must be because the river valleys lie across different surface geologies, so that the rivers pick up different chemical elements as their waters abrade the surfaces of the rocks over which they pass.
