Everywhere around the house, and if I close the door to go to the bathroom or in a bedroom he sits outside until I come out, is this because he's still young (9 months) or will it be to do with his personality.

Could be either they are more dependant when they're little but I still have one idiot that lurks after me wherever I go and peers round the door to watch me on the loo or when I'm asleep, she wakes me up sometimes watching me :)
You are his 'pack', he will probably grow out of it.

Probably.

Possibly....
My childhood dog, a Sheltie, used to do that all the time, to whoever was in the house....he used to wait behind the front door when he heard one of us, go ape-excited jumping all over us when we came in.....it usually was a sign from him to ask " Can we go out around the park now"....it's very sweet, as still young, Fruitsalad....cherish it, while it lasts.

One of my cats comes to the bathroom with me and his sister sits outside.

Like us, mere, humans, they are all different in personality. As long as your pup isn't too attached to you to the extent that he is very upset when you leave the house I wouldn't bother about it.

No he's fine when I leave the house, but like yogi's Sheltie, goes crazy when I come back, jumping all over me even biting my hand although only playfully I might add.
Going to guess a bit of each....both of my dogs sometimes sit outside the loo or bathroom door and they always want to know where I am. if they think what I am doing is boring then they will go about their own business. I think the loo door thing is quite common as many of my friends' dogs do it too.
It's because you are his mum and he loves you.
Wolf, how is the asthmatic cat now?
My 9 year old follows or has me in his sight all the time .
How long have you had him?
and my dog doesnt

can we swap dogs ?

most men dont mind the dog wanting to go to the barg with them
most of the gurlz do - its a girlie thing I think

My brother passed me a note ( he'd left) saying my bathroom door didnt have a catch on it - and I said 'I live alone' ......
What breed? Where's he come from? Is he a rescue?
You are his alpha male - even if you are female. Our rescued (from Hungary) silver grey border collie has to know where my wife is at all times, at this moment she has gone into town for a few hours and the dog sits next to the front door and will stay there until she returns. I'm OK, but just another member of the pack.
Hopkirk - I think you must mean the one that is currently racing up and down the stairs - chasing his sister. He is fine - annoying as usual.

Thanks for asking.
We had a beautiful German Shepherd who used to sit outside the door when I had a bath, one evening I could hear an odd sort of crunching noise and assumed she was chewing her toy, came out of bathroom to find she'd gnawed a great chunk out of the wall.
I love Mally's post at 06:41 ...
Youre his feeder so he protects you
I used to love playing hide and seek with my dog, Laddie...a miniature Collie/Sheltie.....told him to "sit and stay, boy" in the kitchen/diner and hide, normally upstairs, but house was pretty large, so plenty of hiding places, ...then call I was ready, heard him running like the clappers up the stairs... it didnt take him long to find me and he loved being praised when he did...his fluffy tail wagging furiously....he was a really lovely dog, great temperament....and I still miss him, out of all my family back then.
He loves you Fruitsalad....be grateful !
Khandro please stop with the Alpha male rowlocks. As I keep saying, that theory was discredited years ago. Basically your dog liked your wife better than you. :)
