Would you be able to hear a badger running away? I've just been in the garden and I've disturbed something, low to the ground, got a general impression of where it was but you could hear it thud as it ran over the patio bit. If it was a fat cat it couldn't have run that fast.

My fat cat can run quite fast as long as it is towards food or evading me at Vet times.

I don't think it was a cat, it seriously thudded.
Muntjac Deer - they are squat little things (18 inches or so tall) & fast & noisy too ?
maybe it had been working out?

I thought the badgers system on AB was utterly broken.

Hadn't considered Muntjac, it was hefty whatever it was.
Could be, Sherr...they are noisy eaters and thumpy creatures....put down some food to see if you can entice it back.....x

Question Author
I don't want it back! They're lovely but bloody huge and destructive.
Well get it back and give it my address then...... ;-)
Are you sure that it wasn't an intoxicated male celebrating his A-level results ;-)
Could well be badgers in my opinion, I've seen them run across the road at night and they tend to bob up and down, as they run like other members of the weasel family.
Rabbits will thump their feet, to warn others of danger.
A muntjac would have alarm barked, badger would be my favourite . Don't feed it unless you want your garden wrecked you aren't allowed to disturb them if they set up home
