I would never breed a dog I owned.
Firstly I don't believe that a the 'normal' person on the street has the knowledge to look after a mother dog and her pups or what to do if an emergency arose.
My cousin is a dog breeder and she allows her female dogs 2 litters and not until they are 2 years old
I think anyone who breeds from their own pet dog is entirely selfish. Dog charities are always full of unwanted dogs, and even more so now due to the mass buying during covid. Bringing more into the world is cruel as more dogs will have to be put down to make way for more coming in - sickening ....
I agree with shirley. I am also very much against the importing of 'rescued' dogs from the likes of Romania - just a way of getting round our breeding laws.
Well I volunteer at a rescue that help out at shelters and bring dogs back but we only bring in for those that have homes approved for them - maybe 20 a year.
instead we concentrate on highlighting the benefits of spaying and neutering
I know human mothers automatically breed but can't get my head round poor dogs breeding. There are plenty out there for TLC - i know a lad can't want to breed for the big money in fact I think he has done so as sister seems to have a tiny one in her arms last night. They have two separate other big animals ( a docile labrador animal - they live in the dining room of the house (size of mine). No place for animals - animals need to bound and bound and bound outdoors. These are pit bulls which grown into extremely large dogs that can be unmmanageable. If it is his first breed I do hope it is last
I would never ever breed any dog I own. If I wanted another dog I would go to a Rescue and get one. There are literally thousands of dogs in this country in Rescues waiting to be adopted. Worse, thousands are PTS every year because Rescues are full. All my life I have had Rescue dogs and everyone has been a belter.
