Feeding The Birds

Do you put food out for the birds?
Or hedgehogs and other critters for that matter?
I've just found some florentine mince pies and mini stollen I forgot I had and some OOD Brioche buns that little G wasn't keen on and I've just thrown the lot out with some crusts of bread.
I like looking after the birdies :-)

That's the one,
Speaking of Gulls We have a major winter roost on Bartley reservoir, up to 10,000 birds but I don't go out at night to count them. Mostly Herring and black headed, some lesser and greater black backs, but we have had sightings of mediterranean, Iceland and Bonapartes gulls. And an Kelsey disinfection by On migration, usually a succeeding stop.
Unfortunately Bartley reservoir is almost famous in birding circles forgetting almost devoid of birds. However we have resident great crested grebes, a few mallard and Canada geese, and cormorants. I have also seen golden eye, tufted duck, grey lag geese and little grebes there. So it must have got better since Bill Oddie had it as his local patch.

there is a large boating pond in Edinburgh Inverleith Park..meant for model sailing boats ..and it is over populated with Swans and Geese..occasionally they are rounded up and relocated..soon fly back though..lol bit of a nuisance as they are rather aggressive and come right up to you pecking at any bags you may have looking for edibles !!
