importing a dog

does anybody know the costs involved in importing a dog from europe to england and how long it takes to arrange and how old the puppy must be as there is a very rare colour of dog that i'm after that you can't get here in the UK and I would desperately love to import one, just as a pet, not for breeding.

Thanks Metz, hopefully a sable english cocker spaniel, but we'll have to see.

It has to be at least six months old, as they have to have a rabies jab and it takes si x months before it can be known whether it has been effective. The cost of importing depends on the mode of transport - flying is obvously dearer than a boat, and if you drive over you can bring it back yourself.

Also only certain ports/airlines can be used.
