Dog Barking

Does anybody know how I can stop a dog from barking, Ive just acquired a dog from my vet, he'd been abandoned and never trained. He is good with people and children but around other dogs never stops barking, never goes for the dogs is very friendly but now I have neighbours complaining

Buy a book on the subject. I believe that he's just trying to tell you that he's in charge and to do what he says. Have a look on piratebay.org for the dog whisperer series.

I think we tried just about everything to stop our springer spaniel barking when he thought he was going for a walk.We tried everything from a water pistol (the silly creature loved it !) to banging a saucepan lid. We even purchased a collar which emitted a high pitched sound.That didn't work because he couldn't hear it over his barking! It was very frustrating because he is a very obedient dog in all other respects. The only thing we have found to work is an anti-bark collar that sprays a fine jet of citronella every time there is a bark. Our dog only wore it twice before he was cured.If he shows any signs of barking , we only have to show him the collar and he thinks better of it.
I put 'dog collar citronella' into google and a good selection appeared. Worth every penny.

I have tried all things to stop mine barking. He only barks in the house and garden. when people come to the front door ,in the door and even when they leave. But no barking what so ever out of the house.but that is enough and is very loud.! as I said I have tried all collars,sprays,tin of pebble,lemon spray , water pistol I could go on. but nothing will stop him. If you do get an answer to it I would be grateful to hear. many thanks Brendax
