Into an incinerator, I'm afraid!
You have a choice, the vet will offer to "dispose" of the body for you as Mr Monster says in a incinerator or you can arrange to do so yourself.
the local chinese restaurant mmmm
Heaven.
You can take it home with you and bury it, as we did with our 4 rats.
They burn them
Most vets don't have incinerators on their premises and use specialist companies for this. However, we have a local pets crematorium which has been made into a lovely garden for pet's owners to visit. I think this is really sweet and makes people feel better. They also supply your pet's ashes in an urn if you should wish.
most vets will ask if you want to keep the body to bury it or have it taxidermised
After having our beloved cat Smudge for 13 years, we sadly had to have her put to sleep. We brought her home from the vets & buried her in our garden.
I offered only the simple 'incinerator' answer because the questioner asked what vets did with the dead animal...not what options the owner had!
